Topic: Can't login when usign MySecureShell shell

Hi guys,

First of all, I'm new in Linux world!

Well, I have an Ubuntu 8.04 server installed on an old PC. And all I was looking for was a secure FTP (SFTP looked fine for me) but it's configuration seems to be obscure to deny other users the access to others folders, that's where MySecureShell.

I downloaded the MySecureShell v1.0 .deb package and installed it.

I couldn't follow pretty well your instructions on configuration, maybe you were assuming I was a higher grade student wink or, for sure, I was terrible stupid following them.

The fact is that right now an error occurs whenever I try to login, using the MySecureShell, with any of the created users. If I change the shell, the user can logon, but also can 'walk' through the whole system.

Any idea? Did I explain well my problem?

Ah! Another problem is that I can't get the .JAR front-end to work.

Boyz, I "kinda" find a solution.

I uninstall MySecureShell, then follow the instructions of this blog

and suddenly it works fine!!! (at least for one user)

By default MySecureShell refuse shell connection for security reason.

But if you want to give shell access, take a look at:

Sorry Teka, for sure I didn't explain myself very well.

I was trying to connect via sftp, but it didn't work with the "/bin/MySecureShell" definition, instead it worked with the "/bin/bash" in the user (of course, allowing me to 'walk' through the whole system, not like now, my reinstallation of MSS worked fine, and the users can't get out of their box. Thanks a lot guys.
